U9 HL Huron Heat head to St. Marys for Western Ontario league championship

This weekend, the U9 HL Huron Heat will be in St. Marys to take part in the Western Ontario Girls Hockey League’s year-end championship tournament, beginning today, Friday, April 4, with a game against fellow Huron County residents, the South Huron Sabres.
Play continues on Saturday with a game against the Stratford Aces in the morning, followed by a game against the Central Perth Predators that afternoon.
Also on the schedule tonight, the U13 A Heat will host the Sarnia Lady Sting in Seaforth.
The next day, the U9 B Heat will host an exhibition game with the London Devilettes, the U9 C Heat will play an exhibition game with the Walkerton Capitals, the U11 C Heat will also play the Walkerton Capitals and the U15 A Heat will play an exhibition game with the Sarnia Lady String, all in Seaforth. The U13 C Heat will face the Lambeth Lancers in Strathroy for their division’s championship game.
On Sunday, April 6, the U13 A Heat will be in Sarnia to play the Lady Sting and the Senior team will host the Kitchener Lady Rangers in Seaforth.
Then, on the weekend of April 11-13, five Heat teams will head to the Toronto area for the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) provincial championships. Schedules are now available for three of the five teams.
Beginning on Friday, April 11, the U13 B Heat will play the Huntsville Sting and the Toronto Leaside Wildcats, followed by a game with the Lindsay Lynx the next day.
The U13 C Heat have one game on the schedule for April 11, taking on the Belmont Blazers in Ajax, followed on Saturday by games with the Mooretown Lady Flags and the Stittsville Rockets.
Provincial play for the U9 C Heat team begins on Saturday, April 12 with games against the North Bay Junior Lakers and the Stittsville Rockets, followed by Sunday games with the Owen Sound Ice Hawks and the Woodstock Wildcats.
After the provincials in the Toronto area, with just a week of rest, it will be time for try-outs again, with age groups scheduled for the week of April 21 in Seaforth, followed the next week by some scrimmage games as part of the try-out process.
