U13 HL Huron Heat to host WOGHL final with Lucan Irish this Saturday

This Saturday, the U13 HL Huron Heat will host the Division VI Final in the championship round of the Western Ontario Girls’ Hockey League (WOGHL) as they take on the Lucan Irish in Clinton.
The puck will drop for the game at noon.
This comes after the team posted nine playoff wins, one tie and a lone loss (at the hands of the St. Thomas Panthers on March 9 in St. Thomas). The Heat beat the Ilderton Jets on March 23 by a score of 3-0 to punch their ticket to the final.
They are now the only Heat team with a playoff game left on the schedule, with the exception of the teams that will take part in the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) provincial championships next weekend in the Toronto area.
In Division III the Huron Heat U13 C team made it to the semifinals, but fell to the Central Perth Predators on March 24 by a score of 2-1.
This weekend, the U9 C Heat will be in St. Marys to take part in the WOGHL’s year-end tournament, beginning on Friday, April 5 with games against the Woodstock Wildcats and the Lucan Irish. Play continues for the team the next day with a game against the Sarnia Lady Sting, with hopes of making it to the championship round action on Sunday.
Also on April 6, the U7 team will play the Waterloo Ravens on the road, while the U13 BB Heat will host the Mooretown Lady Flags for an exhibition game in Goderich.
On April 8, the U11 BB Heat will play an exhibition game with the Kincardine Kinucks on the road.
Then, it’s all about the provincial championship on the weekend of April 12-14 for the U9 B, U11 B, U11 C, U13 BB, U13 C and U15 C Heat teams.
On Friday, April 12, the U11 BB Heat will begin with a game against the Toronto Leaside Wildcats, followed by a contest with the Scarborough Sharks.
Also that day, the U11 C Heat will play the Belmont Blazers and the Lakeshore Lightning, while the U13 BB Heat will play the North Halton Twisters and the Toronto Leaside Wildcats, the U13 C Heat will play the Sault Ste. Marie Wildcats and the Fort Frances Leafs, while the U15 C Heat will play the Wilmot Wolverines and the Georgina Golden Hawks.
The next day, the U11 BB team will play the Kanata Rangers, the U11 C Heat will also play the Kanata Rangers, the U13 BB Heat will play the Sudbury Lady Wolves, the U13 C Heat will play the Lucan Irish and the U15 C Heat will play the Ilderton Jets, all in the hopes of making it to play on Sunday for the championship rounds.
Also on April 13, the U9 B team will begin its provincial year-end tournament with games against the Gloucester Cumberland Stars and the Brantford Ice Cats. On Sunday, April 14, the U9 B team has scheduled tournament games with the Burlington Barracudas and the Durham West Lightning.
Those are the last games on the schedule. Beginning on April 17, try-outs for the 2024/2025 season begin, taking place over the following weeks in Goderich and Exeter.
Looking back, on Sunday, March 31, the U11 HL Heat hosted the Lucan Irish in Zurich, but fell to them by a score of 2-1.
On March 31, the U18 C Heat lost their playoff game to the London Devilettes on the road by a score of 1-0, while the U13 BB Heat lost their exhibition game with the Bluewater Hawks, also on the road, by a score of 3-2. Also that day, the U11 BB Heat tied the Lucan Irish at one in an exhibition game on the road.
That weekend, the U7 team was in Brampton for the annual Canadettes tournament there.
