Steve Siertsema
Steve Siertsema passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his family at Rotary Hospice in Stratford on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022. He was 59.
Steve was the adoring dad of Ainsleigh Siertsema and the loving son of Doreen and the late Murray Siertsema (2016). He was the cherished brother of Bert (Betty Ann) Siertsema, Mike (Deb) Siertsema, Anita (Mike) Langdon and Yolanda Culbert. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Steve was a selfless person who showed generosity and encouragement to everyone he knew. No one was ever a stranger to Steve. He was kind and compassionate, loved his family and was always interested and involved in their lives.
Steve loved to work, whether laying brick, driving a truck, milking the cows or working at the feedmill, he always had a smile on his face. He loved sports and played hockey and baseball and enjoyed watching the NASCAR races as well as American Pickers and Counting Cars. He loved going to church and his church family. He loved his Timmy’s coffee. He loved his truck and enjoyed going for drives for as long as he could.
He fought a very brave battle with his cancer, always keeping a sense of humour and humbleness about him. He will be missed very dearly by everyone whom he touched.
Visitation took place at the Blyth Christian Reformed Church on Thursday, Jan. 27. The funeral service was held on Friday, Jan. 28. Pastor Gary van Leeuwen officiated. Interment will be held in the spring at Blyth Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to the Huron Hospice or Teen Challenge would be appreciated. Cards of sympathy may be sent to Box 368, Blyth N0M 1H0.
