Siebolt Siertsema
Siebolt Siertsema passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, Aug. 31 at Huron Residential Hospice, Bender House, Clinton, in his 85th year.
The loving husband of Annie for 61 years, Siebolt was the proud dad of Marge Siertsema, Jim and Rebecca Siertsema and Nancy and Peter DeHaan.
He was the cherished grandpa of Joel, Annelise, Philip and Raquelle Siertsema and Meridan and James DeHaan.
Siebolt is survived by siblings Teresa Roetcisoender, Greta and Don Greidanus, John and Kathleen Siertsema and Betty and Clarence Baker, and in-laws Wilma and Pete Groot, Joanne and Bill Korvemaker, Diane and Herman Proper, Bill and Theresa Van Oenen, Doreen Siertsema and Mieneke Siertsema.
He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Siebolt was predeceased by siblings Murray, Hebo and Tom Siertsema, in-laws Hielke Roetcisoender, Margaret Siertsema and Gary Van Oenen.
Siebolt was a devoted family man who took special delight and joy in his grandkids. His passion was farming, which he did for most of his life, first milking cows with his parents, then partnering with his wife, Annie, on their own dairy farm just outside of Auburn.
Siebolt was known for his smile and sense of humour. He loved his cows, cats, dogs and birds and could be heard whistling as he worked or singing along in the barn with the country music playing on CKNX.
He also enjoyed singing gospel songs with three of his brothers in Men of Note, a community-wide male choir, for a number of years.
Siebolt was a generous and gentle soul who preferred to be out of the limelight, but he warmed others in his midst with his genuine smile and good-natured teasing.
Friends and family were invited to visitation at the Blyth Christian Reformed Church on Tuesday, Sept. 5, with funeral service following. Interment was in Blyth Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to Huron Hospice or the Clinton Public Hospital would be appreciated.
