Rose Smith
Rose Smith, formerly of RR 2, Listowel, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at her residence in Listowel, on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022. She was 92.
Rose was born in England and worked as a seamstress and also at the railway office, where she met David. After coming to Canada, David and Rose made a life farming together. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, reading and spending time with her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late David Smith, who predeceased her in 1990. She was the loving mother of Mary Ellen (Harry) Jacklin, Jim (Sandra), Sally (Scott) Andrews, Sandra (Don) Harrison and the cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Rose will be fondly remembered by her brother Harold and his wife Pearl Norman and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Mary (Tazzymen) Norman, brothers Tom (Irene), David (Loretta), Herbert “Tommy” (Mae), and sisters Joyce, Marion and Mabel.
A private family funeral service was held at the Elma Memorial Community Centre, Atwood on Saturday, Feb. 12. Ruth Long officiated. The service was recorded and the link is available in Rose’s obituary on the funeral home website. Spring interment will be held at Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Calvary United Church, North Perth Community Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
