R. Lynn Hoy
R. Lynn Hoy passed away peacefully at Wingham and District Hospital on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021. He was 87.
Lynn was the devoted husband of Annabelle (Ewart) Hoy, Wingham and the cherished dad of Brian and Victoria Hoy, Wingham; Terry Hoy and Jacky Murray, Wingham and Deb and Pat Murray, Lucknow. He was the dear grandpa of Sarah and Josh Hoy and Emma, Katie and Craig Murray. Lynn was the brother of Harold Hoy, Owen Sound and brother-in-law of Helen Bryce-Hoy, Kitchener; Don and Bernice Ewart, Owen Sound and Doug and Gladys Ewart, Hanover. Lynn will be lovingly remembered by one nephew and two nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Jessie (Brown) Hoy, brother Bill Hoy (Roberta), parents-in-law Alex and Grace Ewart and his first wife Lois Walker.
Lynn was the co-founder of Lynn Hoy Enterprises Ltd. in Wingham, which opened in the fall of 1969 out of the family’s home. In 1973, the company expanded and relocated to its present-day location. Lynn also served twice as a councillor for Morris-Turnberry. Lynn’s outgoing personality and ability to connect with just about anyone will be missed by his entire family, the community of Wingham and all of his customers, past and present.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service was held at McBurney Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 6. Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiated. Lynn’s final resting place will be in Wingham Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation or OneCare would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
