Pat Engel
Pat Engel passed away peacefully at Huronlea Home for the Aged in Brussels on July 3 in her 81st year.
The loving wife of the late John Engel (2013) for 51 years, Pat was the mom of David (Janet), Pamela (Keith), and Judy (Tina). She was the grandma of Shawn (Natalie), Melissa (Stephen), Jack (Kelly), Cole (Jessica), Shea (Alanis) and Brock (Ashley) and the great-grandma of Angel, Jaiden, Brady, Darius, Dominic, Alivia, Jackson, Isla, George, Roy and Clyde. Pat will be especially missed by Dianne McClory. She was predeceased by four siblings.
Born in Kitchener, Pat then moved to Brussels with her parents. She then met the love of her life, John Engel. They were married and had three children: David, Pamela and Judy.
Pat lived in the village of Cranbrook until she moved to Huronlea in March. It took her a bit of adjusting, but she soon settled in and made new friends.
Pat was well known in her community, spending years as a bartender/waitress in the Brussels Hotel. She did not take any shit from anyone!
She loved knitting, baking, painting pictures and drawing. She was very crafty and creative. She was a force who was very involved in her family’s lives. Ask any of the grandkids and they will show you how to make a Gramma Pat special (whiskey, on the strong side).
Pat’s strong will and dedication to her family will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Pat’s life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to Huronlea’s resident bike purchase would be appreciated.
Please send donation cheques to Box 340, Brussels, N0G 1H0.
