Maaike Maria “Maja” Dodds

Maaike Maria “Maja” Dodds passed away peacefully at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich on Dec. 27, 2023, at the age of 86, with family at her side. 

 

Left to mourn her passing is her cherished husband of 63 years, Don Dodds. 

 

Maja was the loving mother of Lynne Godkin (Ron), Paul (Kathy) and Joan Prewitt (Brookes). Grandma will be dearly missed by Scott and Julie Godkin, Brent and Jordyn Godkin, Laura Godkin, Heather Godkin, Brittany and Paulo Ruiz, Ashley and Chris McHugh, Wilson Prewitt, and Rebecca and Roddy Smith. She was the adoring great-grandma of Ryan, Nathan, Ella, Grant, Brookes and Julia. 

 

Maja is also survived by sister-in-law Dorothy McGregor and loved by her extended family in Canada and the Netherlands.
Maja is predeceased by her parents, Simon and Mary Roobol, and brother-in-law Fred McGregor. 

 

Maja was a dedicated nurse at the Clinton Public Hospital for 36 years and took pride in delivering exemplary care to all her patients. She was a tireless volunteer and devoted countless hours to support local organizations such as the Huron County Plowmen’s Association, the International Plowing Match, the Seaforth Agricultural Society, the Board of Directors for the Clinton Family Health Team, and Cavan United Church. 

 

Maja loved to socialize, organize and be involved. She treasured her friendships with her classmates from nursing school, work colleagues, volunteer groups, and friends at Goderich Place. 

 

Visitation was held at Haskett Funeral Home, Seaforth on Monday, Jan. 1 and again on Tuesday, Jan. 2. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 2 with Rev. Ken Whiting officiating. Spring interment is in Maitlandbank Cemetery, Seaforth.
