John Mann
At Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Friday, March 14, 2025, John Mann, formerly of Wingham, passed away at the age of 89.
The devoted husband of Margaret (Adams) Mann, John was the loving dad of Ian Mann and Tracey Brown of Waterloo, Caryn and Don Johnson of Orleans, Jeff and Kim Mann of Belleville and Andrew Mann and Susan Taylor of Goderich, the proud grandpa, or ‘Pa’, of Ethan Mann (Nicole), Christene Johnson (Scott), Mark Johnson (Mariana), Caitlin Mann (Jeff), Erin Mann (Cole), Liam Mann (Lyndsey) and Rowan Mann and great-grandpa of Eris Johnson.
John was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Greta (Moore) Mann, parents-in-law Charles and Margaret Adams, sister Norah Anderson (Alex), and brothers-in-law John More and George Adams (Maureen).
Born and raised in Stratford, Ontario, John had a love of learning, swimming and athletics, and a passion for the outdoors. These combined interests led him to pursue a career in education, serving as a teacher, a Master at the Stratford Teachers’ College, a principal, and an administrator for the Huron County Board of Education.
After retiring, John and Margaret (his wife of 65 years) travelled extensively. Their journeys took them to countless countries across the globe. John’s experiences further strengthened his respect for the beliefs and values of other cultures. He also took pride in sharing what he learned on his travels with his friends and family.
John was a devout Christian and a respected member and elder of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Wingham. His call to service was evident in the work he did with programs such as Meals on Wheels and Samaritan’s Purse.
John will be deeply missed by his family and his community, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
