John "Gary" Rodger

John “Gary” Rodger  passed away unexpectedly, at his home on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. He was 74 years of age.

 

Gary was predeceased by his parents Emerson and Phyllis Rodger and brothers William and Keith. He is survived by his sister Betty (Bill) Helesic and his brother Clare (Linda) Rodger and will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

 

Born in Goderich, Gary was raised on the family farm in the Auburn area. Schooling was at the East Wawanosh S.S.#6 and he completed Grade 12 at Goderich District Collegiate Institute. After high school, Gary moved on to getting his apprenticeship and receiving his tool and die certificate. His career started at Speidel in Goderich and after various jobs he landed his career at Bruce Power as a mechanical maintainer. 

 

Over many years, Gary’s passion in finding his family history inspired others to follow with interest in gathering knowledge to continue the family legacy. Gary’s pastime was to attend flea markets and sales to bring home an item or two to just tinker with and restore his finds. His love of reading and knowledge always made for interesting conversations.

As per Gary’s wish, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service.
