Janet (Deitner) Brophy
At Huronlea Home for the Aged in Brussels on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, Janet (Deitner) Brophy of Wingham passed away at the age of 88.
The beloved wife of the late Jack Brophy, who predeceased her in 2003, Janet was the devoted mother of Carol and Wayne Horton of Wingham, Joe and Adrienne Brophy of Wingham, Theresa and Ed Haines of Stratford, Teddy and Mike Stewart of Wingham, Rita and Don Haasnoot of Seaforth and Jackie Brophy and Don Hawkins of Carleton Place.
She was the loving grandma of Ashley and Jeremy Schnurr, Byron Horton, Shawn Brophy, Adam and Helen Brophy, Jenny and Kevin Hallahan, John and Nicole Haines, Nicole and Matt Weber, Tyler and Marla Stewart, Josh Stewart and Natalie Irwin, Devan Haasnoot and Shawn Butler, Jaleesa and Geoff Alderice, Kaitlynn and Scott Forrest, Julia Hawkins, Kathryn Hawkins and Jack Hawkins and the great-grandma of 20.
Janet was the sister of Rita and Jack Keys of Niagara-on-the-Lake and Karen and Willie Tweedy of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and the sister-in-law of Dennis Leddy of Kitchener, Ozzie Pickett of Kitchener and Norma Brophy of Wingham.
Janet will be missed by her many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Delma Deitner, brother Ross Deitner, and sisters Aileen Leddy and Joanne Pickett.
Visitation was held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Thursday, Oct. 24. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Wingham on Friday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Wingham Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
