Grace Wallace James Procter
At her home in Goderich on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, Grace Procter, formerly of Belgrave, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her 85th year.
The beloved wife of Charles Procter, who predeceased her on Aug. 17, 2023, Grace was the cherished sister-in-law of Ross Procter, George and Elizabeth Procter and Ruth Alton.
Grace will be lovingly remembered by her niece, Karen (Ron) Landers, and many of Charlie’s nieces, nephews and their families. She will be greatly missed by special friend Sharon Adamson of Paisley, Scotland.
Grace was predeceased by her parents Duncan and Agnes Coulthart (née James), parents-in-law Stewart and Alice Procter (née Imlay), sister Jean Robertson, niece Sharon Robertson, sisters-in-law Mary Thomas and Mary Procter, and brother-in-law Ken Alton.
Grace was born in Paisley, Scotland. She taught highland dancing and worked as a medical receptionist until she married the love of her life, Charles Procter, and bravely immigrated to the wilds of Huron County in 1976.
Grace created a loving home with Charlie. Together they enjoyed travelling for bagpipe band functions, entertaining, gardening and raising sheep. They also enjoyed antique cars - they had a restored 1929 Whippet and a 1918 Overland, travelling to car show events in Canada and the United States.
Grace always kept busy hands - lovingly creating beautiful knitted items, delicious food and taking care of the home. She loved making candies at Christmas and always had jars on hand to give to anyone who stopped in.
A private spring interment will take place at Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Brussels Legion, Wingham and District Hospital Foundation, or the Belgrave Community Centre would be appreciated.
