Grace Adeline Thompson

At Barnswallow Place Care Community in Elmira on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Grace Adeline Thompson of Wingham passed away at the age of 81.

 

The devoted mother of Joe Thompson of Burlington and Rob and Marcia Thompson of Elmira, Grace was the loving “Gran” of Samantha and Cole. She was the cherished sister of Doris Stuart and will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families. 

 

She is predeceased by brothers, Arthur and Donald McLean, and sisters Janet Currie, Mary Pennington, Ruby Warner, Fannie Somers and Ella Gwynn.

 

Grace worked as a bookkeeper for many years and continued on in retirement as a volunteer for Royal Canadian Legion Branch 180, where she was also a fierce card player, darts shark, and routine breakfast volunteer. She was very proud of her family’s military history and contributions.

 

Funeral service was held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Thursday, March 27. Interment will take place at Brussels Cemetery at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham Legion or Colitis Foundation would be appreciated.
