Gail Louise Godden
Gail Louise Godden passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 12, 2025. She was in her 79th year.
The loving wife of Rodney for 58 years, Gail was the proud mother of Troy (Tammy) and Jody (James), the proud nana of Chelsi, Dakota, Sydney, Shelby, and Cooper and great-grandmother of four.
She was the sister of Glen Cation and sister-in-law of Gary (Ruth Ann) Godden.
Gail was predeceased by sisters-in-law Maria Cation, Yvonne Godden, and brother-in-law Mervin (Helen) Godden. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Born in Toronto, Gail and Rodney met while working at Copeland Chatterson together. They settled in Brampton and raised two children on Archibald Street. Gail was the doting big sister to her little brother Glen (De me me).
Gail loved to socialize, whether it be Thursday night “tea” or Sunday night backyard barbeques, she loved spending it with family and friends. This continued when they retired to Ethel, hosting the Ethel Open Golf Tournament for several years. Rodney and Gail loved to travel, a good euchre game, a 60-ouncer, watching the birds and gardening.
The apple of her eye were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gail was humble, no fuss, low-maintenance and lived life with no regrets. Gail’s love was caring for her family, friends and her love for Rodney. Rodney and Gail enjoyed life to the fullest. Mom is finally at peace, hopefully playing a game of euchre with Rod, Maria and Dean.
A special thanks to the Alexander family, who have shown compassion, patience, and true love in taking care of Gail on this part of her journey. Also thank you to Caressant Care in Listowel for their care with Mom.
Cremation has taken place.
A come-and-go memorial gathering will take place at the Ethel Community Hall on Friday, April 18 from 1-3 p.m. with a celebration of Gail’s life beginning at 3 p.m. Gail and Rodney will be interred together at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Ethel immediately following the service. Refreshments to follow at the Ethel Community Hall.
