Femmigje “Femmy” (née Thalen) van Amersfoort
Mrs. Femmigje “Femmy” (née Thalen) van Amersfoort went home to glory on Sunday, Dec. 19 at Braemar Nursing Home, Wingham. She was in her 97th year.
Femmy was the beloved mother of Helen Hummel (Boven), Herb and Joanne van Amersfoort, Hillie van Amersfoort and Stephanie and Frank Zoer. Femmy was the proud Opoe of Michael (Shirley Ann) Boven, Laurie (Richard) Wilts, Casey (Melissa) Boven, Kelly (Brette) Boven, April (Josh) Tuninga, Jeremy (Mariet) van Amersfoort, Steve (Denise) van Amersfoort, Kerissa (Nate) Beach, Greg (Kim) Blok, Telly and Krystle Zoer, the step-opoe of Kelly (Dan) Kiss, Rick (Stacy) Hummel and the great-opoe of 32 great-grandchildren.
Femmy was the sister of Harm (Sharon) Thalen and sister-in-law of Tinie and Joanne Thalen.
She was predeceased by her husband Casey (1992), son-in-law Albert Boven (1989), son-in-law Henry Hummel (2009), granddaughter Pauline (2020), one sister, several brothers and in-laws. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Canada and Holland.
Femmy was a devoted wife and her family always came first. She was dedicated to her faith and very involved in her church community. She loved to read, knit, crochet and sew, and used her skills as a seamstress throughout her life. She loved to sing, especially in church and was a choir member for many years. Femmy was a sweet lady with a kind smile, and she will be missed by many.
Visitation and the funeral service took place Wednesday, Dec. 22 at the Blyth Christian Reformed Church. Pastor Gary van Leeuwen officiated.

Interment will take place at Blyth Union Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers and as expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
