Eric Prescott
Eric Prescott passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Jan. 3 at Wingham and District Hospital, in his 86th year.
He was the loving husband of the late Vernice Prescott (2019) and the proud dad of Teresa (Herb) Befurt, John Prescott and Diane (Neil) Warwick.
Eric was the adoring grandfather of Christina, Ryan (Katelyn), Evan, Jane, Thomas, Megan (Jake), Jessica (Dylan), Rachel and Allison (Mike) and great-grandpa of Michaela, Jayden and Oliver.
Eric was the brother of Valerie (Wally) Black and Vernon Prescott and brother-in-law of Jean Prescott, Shirley Prescott, Marie Walker, Carol Harkes, Richard Harkes, Larry (Liz) Harkes, Neil (Terry) Harkes and Karen (Wayne) Jackson.
He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Jane Prescott, in-laws Mac and Nina Harkes, and brothers Roy (Hang), Cyril, Brian (Sheila). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Born in Wesham, England on Dec. 23, 1938, Dad immigrated to Canada in March 1948 with his family of eight. He remembers coming to a big open country with no shortage of food.
A jack of all trades, Dad worked hard to support his family after marrying the love of his life in June of 1963. He worked trucking, farming and eventually as a milk tester. Dad was very social and enjoyed making new friends on his journeys. He always had a story or joke to share, a smile on his face and often sang a song or two.
Building cradles, furniture and little toy cars from wood and singing with the Seaforth Harmony Kings became favourite hobbies for Dad, as were gardening, his fish pond and going for drives with Mom.
Dad was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be remembered for his sharp and witty sense of humour.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of Eric’s life will take place at the Bluevale Hall on Jan. 27 from 1-4 p.m. for family and friends to come together and share a story or two.
Spring interment in Brussels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to Seaforth Harmony Kings or Wingham and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
Please send donation cheques to Box 340, Brussels.
