Edna Christina (Freebree) Pearson RN
Edna Christina (Freebree) Pearson RN of Brussels passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015 at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels. Born in Kincardine on May 31, 1927, Edna was in her 89th year.
Edna was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Cunningham Pearson (July 2, 2000) and will be sadly missed by her daughters Nancy Procter and her husband Murray, Aguanga, California; Joyce McLean, London and Janet Smith and her partner Ben Durose, Owen Sound. She was the loving grandmother of Mark, Kyle and Danielle, Kirk and Julie, Andrea and Nick, Jill and Yaddi and Janine and loving great-grandmother of Jesse, Jeremy, Seth, Grace, Owen, Emma, Olivia, Taran and Nishaan. Edna was also loved by her brother-in-law Jim Gibson, London and several nieces and nephews. Edna was predeceased by her granddaughter Christina McLean (1995), her sister Lucy Freebree (2003) and seven brothers and sisters-in-law. Edna was a graduate of the 1949 nursing class of Victoria Hospital.
Friends were received by the family one hour prior to the funeral service which was conducted at Brussels United Church on Saturday, Oct. 17. Rev. Gary Clark and Pastor Sandra Cable officiated.
A remembrance of Edna was given by her daughter Nancy and as a tribute to her grandmother, Andrea Pyle sang “Amazing Grace”. Carrying floral tributes were granddaughters Danielle Procter and Andrea Pyle. Pallbearers were Ron Hoffman, Murray Hoover, Bob Kellington, Kirk Procter, Kyle Procter and Frank Workman.
Burial took place in Brussels Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Brussels United Church or the Huronlea Palliative Care will be appreciated by the family.
