Douglas Neal Fortune

Douglas Neal Fortune passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022 at Huronlea in Brussels. He was 77 years old.

Doug is survived by his wife of almost 56 years Geraldine (Gerry), daughters Carrie and Julie, grandsons Josh and Cody and sister-in-law Mary Fortune. Doug was predeceased by his parents Edna and Les, brother Don, sister-in-law Lorraine and nephew Larry.

Doug farmed for many years in Turnberry Township before moving to Belgrave. Always active in his community, Doug was a 4-H leader, president of the Huron County Federation of Agriculture, councillor and deputy-reeve of Turnberry Township Council, member and Chairman of the Wingham and Area Fire Board, member of the Board of Directors of the Belmore Non-Profit Senior Citizens Housing Project, member and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Wingham and District Hospital and member and Chairman of the Branch Council of Libro Credit Union, Wingham.

Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. A private family remembrance will be held.
