Dorothy Margaret (Fraser) Cox
Dorothy Margaret (Fraser) Cox of Listowel passed away at Caressant Care, Listowel, on Thursday, June 3, 2021. She was in her 93rd year.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of John ‘Jack’ Cox for 72 years and the mother of Ken and Carol Cox, Palgrave; Larry and Nancy Cox, Waterloo; Murray and Sylvia Cox, and Jim and Lynn Cox, all of Listowel; Brian and Susan Cox, Henfryn; Bruce and Karyn Cox, Atwood; Dianne Cox and Carolyn Dixon, Barrie and Karen and Albert Tiw, Burlington. She was loved by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents D. Milton and M. Luella (Shaw) Fraser, and brother Robert Fraser.
Born January 26, 1929 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Dorothy moved to Canada at age four when her parents bought a farm in Morris Township near Bluevale. At age 20, she married Jack and moved to Grey Township until they retired from farming in 1981. They moved to Atwood, and finally Listowel.
Through a shared life with Jack, filled with family, faith and farming, Dorothy's endless energy found outlets in her other many joys. She loved her church, knitting, quilting, baking, dancing, traveling, playing cards and of course, cheering for her beloved Blue Jays, but nothing filled her heart with more joy than spending time with her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private family visitation took place at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Sunday, June 6, followed by a private family funeral service. Ruth Long officiated. Interment was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.
Memorial donations to Canadian Cancer Society, Calvary United Church, Listowel, or Caressant Care Residents’ Council would be appreciated.
