Doreen Margaret (Menzies) Raymond passed away peacefully with family on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Huron Hospice in her 92nd year.
The beloved wife of the late Bob Raymond for 71 years, Doreen was the loving mother of Keith (Loree), Colleen (Doug), and Carol (Kevin). She was the proud grandma of 17 grandchildren and adoring great-grandma of 31 great-grandchildren.

Doreen met Bob in 1947 and it was love at first sight. They were married in 1952 and started a family in Brussels. Doreen was an educator for well over 50 years, starting in a one-room schoolhouse in Grey Township when she was 18. She went on to teach at Brussels Public School, where she focused on English and grammar. Doreen continued her education, achieving a Bachelor’s Degree so that she could keep teaching.
Doreen was very proud of her students and took great pride in seeing them succeed. She loved to read, especially Stephen King books, and enjoyed her vacations, including her “bible weekends” with friends and traveling to Florida. She was a loving mom and will be missed by many.
Friends and family were received at Riverside Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 20 for visitation, followed by a funeral service. Family interment prior to the visitation at Brussels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy donations to the Brussels United Church or Huron Hospice would be appreciated.
