Donald Smith

Beloved husband, father and grandfather Don Smith passed away on April 21, 2023, aged 79. 

 

Born in South Porcupine, Ontario (Timmins) on July 12, 1943, Don was the beloved son of the late Douglas and Adah (Grasby) Smith.  He was the second-eldest of seven.

 

Don and Mary (Cheesebrough) married in 1969. Mary passed away in 1990 after a battle with cancer. Don moved to Ottawa in 1999 and was with Aline Akenson until her passing of Alzheimer’s Disease in July of 2013. 

 

Don is survived by his loving family. Left to carry his memory are his brothers Rae and Douglas and sister-in-law Colleen, his sons Karl and wife Sylvia and Kenneth and wife Evelyn, and grandchildren Tanya, Adam and Erika. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, John, Jimmy, Leif, Kassandra, Jessica, Matthew, Andrew, Shirin, and Anisa. Don was predeceased by his sister Joan and brothers Larry, Robert and Jim.
