Belmore Stingers shutout Brussels Bangers 11-0 as season winds down

The Belmore Stingers remain perfect at home with a 7-0 record as part of their 11-3 record, topping the Huron County Fastball League standings with 22 points. The Stingers are the only team in the league that’s undefeated at home, while the Goderich Grizzlies embody the evil twin of that record with a winless, 0-7 record on the road.
The Sebringville Sting are within one win of a tie for first place with a record of 10-4 and 20 points, followed by the Brussels Bangers and Walton Brewers, who are tied for third place with 18 points each and identical 9-6 records.
The Mitchell Mets are in fifth place with a record of 8-5 and 16 points, followed by the sixth-place Elmira Expos with 14 points and a record of 7-5. The Monkton Muskrats (6-6) and Milverton Millwrights (6-8) are both tied on points at 12 in seventh and eighth place, followed by the Fullarton A’s in ninth place with a record of 5-8 and 10 points.
The Brussels Tigers and Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers then have eight points each with records of 4-8 and 4-10, respectively, followed by the last-place Goderich Grizzlies, who have a record of 3-11 and six points.
Looking back at the action of the past week, on Sunday, Aug. 10, the Elmira Expos beat the Rippers in Wroxeter by a score of 4-3 while, on the same day, the Fullarton A’s hosted the Sebringville Sting, but fell to the visitors by a score of 5-1.
One day earlier, the Milverton Millwrights hosted the Monkton Muskrats and won by a score of 7-5.
On Aug. 8 - a day that was not great for Brussels baseball - the Belmore Stingers were in Brussels to lay an 11-0 thumping on the Bangers and, over in Sebringville, the Sting beat the Brussels Tigers by a score of 10-0. Also that night, the Goderich Grizzlies hosted the Mitchell Mets and won by a score of 3-2.
On Aug. 7, the Milverton Millwrights hosted the Sebringville Sting and won by a score of 7-0. In the trio of games on Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Walton Brewers beat the Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers in Wingham by a score of 7-2, the Mitchell Mets lost to the Fullarton A’s by a score of 6-4 in Mitchell and the Bangers beat the Tigers in an all-Brussels affair by a score of 4-1.
On Aug. 12 the Monkton Muskrats were scheduled to be in Walton to play the Brewers, the Brussels Tigers were to head to Fullarton to play the A’s and the Belmore Stingers were to play the Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers in Mildmay, in a game rescheduled from July 24. On Aug. 13, the Mitchell Mets were scheduled to host the Sebringville Sting and, on Aug. 14, the Goderich Grizzlies will be in Belmore to play the Stingers and the Milverton Millwrights will host the Walton Brewers, but scores for those games were unavailable at press time.
Looking ahead, tonight, Friday, Aug. 15, the Brussels Bangers will host the Sebringville Sting and the Brussels Tigers will be in Monkton to play the Muskrats. Then, on Sunday, Aug. 17, the Monkton Muskrats will be in Wroxeter to play the Rippers and the Goderich Grizzlies and Elmira Expos will play a doubleheader in Goderich with games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
On Monday, Aug. 18, the Fullarton A’s will host the Milverton Millwrights before, one day later, hosting the Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers on Aug. 19. That same night the Elmira Expos will be in Sebringville to play the Sting.
The next day, Aug. 20, the Milverton Millwrights will host the Belmore Stingers and the Walton Brewers will be in Brussels to play the Tigers.
On Thursday, Aug. 21, the Belmore Stingers will host the Mitchell Mets and the Monkton Muskrats will welcome the Sebringville Sting to town.
The Bangers will play the Goderich Grizzlies in Brussels on Aug. 22, the same night that the Sebringville Sting will host the Wroxeter/Wingham Rippers.
Those same Rippers will host the Mitchell Mets in Wroxeter on Aug. 24 and the Belmore Stingers will be in Fullarton to play the A’s that night as well.
Then, in the last week of August and into the first days of September, the season will reach its conclusion.
On Aug. 26, the Walton Brewers will host the Milverton Millwrights and the Elmira Expos will be in Monkton to play the Muskrats.
On Aug. 27, the Brussels Bangers will play the Mets in Mitchell, the Brussels Tigers will host the Sebringville Sting and the Belmore Stingers will be in Elmira to play the Expos. The next night, the Fullarton A’s will be in Monkton to play the Muskrats and the Goderich Grizzlies will travel to Milverton for a game with the Millwrights.
Then, on Sept. 2, the final day for games for the 2025 regular season, the Mitchell Mets will host the Walton Brewers in what is the last scheduled game of the regular season.
