Alice née Verbeek Marks
Alice née Verbeek Marks passed away suddenly on Oct. 20, 2024 at the Highland Apartments in Brussels in her 80th year.
The beloved wife of the late Dave Marks for 51 years, Alice was the loving mom of Rosie and Kevin Kellington, Susan and Mike Hendsbee and Sandra and Darrell Weber.
She was the adoring grandma of Tori and Brandon, Mitchell and Laura, Logan and Ashley, Victoria, Lisa, Laura and Trevor, Owen and Katie, Mason and Emma and Brock and the proud GG of Brooks and Chase.
Alice will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by brothers and sister-in-law Jack, Peter and Harry and Connie, sisters and brothers-in-law Millie, Edith, Dorothy and Stanley.
Alice was predeceased by parents Gerrit and Marie Verbeek, and brother Hans Verbeek.
Alice was very well known in her community. She was a member of Melville Presbyterian Church for many years. She was actively involved in Soup and More, the Brussels Coffee/Birthday Ladies, the Friday night supper ladies, the Melville church choir, and catered many events for Melville.
Alice was an avid televised sports enthusiast; she loved to watch the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Maple Leafs and ladies curling. She was competitive at cards and liked to win.
Alice was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandkids and great-grandkids and supported all their interests. Alice was a very social person; she loved to visit and chat with everyone over a caesar. Alice liked her technology and learned how to excel at being the messenger of Facebook posts/pictures.
She really enjoyed her independence in her short time at the Highland Apartments at Huronlea. We will miss her kind and pleasant personality and knowing smile.
Friends and family were received at Riverside Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 24 and the funeral service will follow at Melville Presbyterian Church on Friday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. with Doug Sargent officiating.
Interment at Brussels Cemetery.
