Albert Joseph (Bert) Lyon
Bert Lyon, Londesborough passed away peacefully at Clinton Public Hospital on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. He was in his 85th year.
Bert was the beloved husband for almost 61 years of Joanne (née Easom), dear father and father-in-law of Wayne and Jane Lyon, Clinton; Kathy and Ron Moes, Ladner, British Columbia; and Cheryl and Calvin Bakelaar, Auburn. He was the loving grandpa to Justin (Kim), Brittany, Laura (Harrison), Kerissa (Daniel), AJ, Michelle (Andrew), Jordan and Monica and special great-grandpa of Ayden, Kohen, Madelyn, Grayson, Zion, Rayah and Carter.
Bert was the brother-in-law of Marlene and Ron Baer, Saltford. He was predeceased by his brother Murray Lyon and sister Marguerite Neil.
Bert was born and raised on the 13th of Hullett and lived his entire life in the Londesborough area. After a farming career he drove a school bus, feed truck and was a driver for Children’s Aid. Bert was a 60-year member of the Hullett Masonic Lodge No. 568 A.F. & A.M. He was a lifetime member of the Londesborough United Church and enjoyed socializing at local coffee shops. He made friends wherever he went. Bert enjoyed square and round dancing, snowmobiling, bowling and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received at Falconer Funeral Homes - Clinton Chapel, 153 High Street on Thursday, Feb. 8 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Londesborough United Church, 338 King’s Road, Londesborough, on Friday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. Spring interment will be at Blyth Union Cemetery.
The Hullett Masonic Lodge No. 568 A.F. & A. M. will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.
